About Alan Hayes

Alan Hayes is a local community representative and passionate supporter of building strong civic structures which are directed and led by the very people they are meant to represent.

He is married to Claire and father to Ruby Mae & Sam, they live in Palmerstown.

Alan works as an Educational Welfare Officer and comes from a background of teaching in Community Education, Training and Youth Work. He previously worked for Comhámh as a training officer and taught at Liberties College Dublin and other ETBs as well as Institute of Technology, Blanchardstown, now the Technical University for Dublin. He spent 8 years working in the National Youth Council of Ireland as Development Education trainer.

Alan has an honours degree in Training & Education from NUI Galway and was trained by the National Office of Suicide Prevention to deliver Safe TALK Suicide Alertness to deliver the half day Suicide Alertness Training.

Alan works hard as a volunteer on various community networks and groups, in the last few years he has been a Secretariat member of South Dublin PPN, Coordinator of South Dublin Tidy Towns Network, Chairperson at Palmerstown Community Council and Coordinator of Neighbourhood Watch Schemes including the Local Policing Forum.

An all weather supporter of all sports, he has worn the sky blue of Dublin at under-age levels, completed eight full marathons and raised over €20,000  for various charities by cycling the length and breadth of Ireland 7 times and as King of the Redheads, at the Irish Redhead Convention in 2013 and a continued supporter, Alan works to raise awareness and funds to support the work of Irish Cancer Society.
